I'm here to catch you all up on what I've been doing over the past several months. If you follow my blog you already know I home school my two youngest daughters. You will also know that summer time is the busiest time for me and my family concerning our house, business and land.  This year was no exception and we had an amazing garden this year. That just means the summer time work extends into the fall.

My brother has been working hard to improve the place and he's done a wonderful job. 

He put in a small dam  where a culvert had been washed out. We hope to put a bridge over the top, but have to fix the dam. None of us are professional landscapers and are learning as we go.

The girls and I went on several hikes early on in the summer.

Then we were allowed to help some friends brand their cattle again this year.

We picked asparagus again. I love getting food for free. These are wild growing asparagus we didn't even know we had until a few years ago. Now, we anxiously await spring so we can hunt them down.

We also planted our garden. It's approximately 40' x 70'. 
Our very first harvest!

Since the first we've been harvesting consistently. We've been canning off and on for the last couple of weeks - tomatoes. I also harvested a five gallon bucket full of grapes from my vine and a friend let me harvest her grapes this year, as well. We got another five gallon bucket full of her grapes, as well. 

Our sunflowers! We've only planted sunflowers one other time - YEARS ago. So this was a fun endeavor. I would estimate the tallest sunflower is at least nine foot tall. They are amazing!

We acquired some rabbits, played with the kitties and fought with the geese. One of the male geese has decided to like me, but the other one will bite me at every opportunity. The rest of the family is lucky if the geese don't chase them around the yard. 

We made a trip to the Air and Space Museum.

Took a day trip to Devil's Tower.

Had kittens!

And went to the fair.  We entered items into the fair again this year, but got back too late to claim our prizes. We did place first with more than one item, but again, didn't get back to the buildings in time to pick up our stuff. At least the girls had fun on the rides!
