The parents now struggle to bury their youngest daughter, having never experienced this type of tragedy to this magnitude; they must fight through the grief and disbelief that their youngest daughter had died. A grief stricken father wants answers. Arrests are forthcoming. How could this have happened? Why did she have to die? Why didn't those around her get her the medical help that she needed? Will this nightmare ever end? After close to two years of court dates and a lengthy trial, a family torn must now move on.

From the Author

After my daughter died I didn't know what to do and my mind was cluttered with too much information and details. I sat down and started to write everything down in detail to help ease my mind. As the days, months and years past, I would look back on my notes and realized I had a story to tell. I want to give others hope, to let others know that there is a chance for justice and it’s OK to openly grieve as a man and as a father. The justice system is not what I thought it was, it is complicated and it takes time. It will also take a toll on your mind and body. This book will put you in the courtroom and you will experience the heartache I have gone through and will continue to go through for the rest of my life.

Review by: Simon Purvis on July 09, 2013 :  4 stars
Dawn of Spears by JF Perez Jimenez is an epic fantasy with a difference – it is a short story. It is about an uprising on the Island of Avertaria; an island made up of five different kingdoms. Orobar, King of Tantros is trying to take over the rest of the kingdoms through war and alliances to become the Emperor of Avertaria. King Orobar has already invaded Durtan and is trying to force Duriel, the daughter of the King of Durtan into marrying him. This would help secure Orobar’s attempt to become the Emperor. However, in effort to raise an alliance with the King of Brost and an army to fight against Orobar and his forces, the King of Durtan has sent three of his knights to meet with the King of Brost.
Wow, that was complicated! This short story is certainly epic and told by both the knight, Goldenor and the King of Durtan’s daughter, Duriel. It is split into four parts; two narrated by Goldenor and two by Duriel. It is almost as if they are giving the versions of the events to an inquest or something. With the exception of the last part, each part ends with a cliff hanger where we are uncertain of that if our heroes will see the light of the next day. It is an exciting story that builds the drama up and the stakes are raised as the story goes on. Will Goldenor and Duriel defeat King Orobar in his quest to become the Emperor of Avertaria? You will have to read to find out!

Review by: J.L. Low on July 08, 2013 :  3 stars
So there was this army. And there was war. And there were dragons and wolves and princesses. And somehow, in the midst of all that, there was a happily ever after. Um... Okay, wait, what? Honestly, for a book this short, it did well. What I would have appreciated was a little conversation. If this was a work written for some one-shot fiction competition, it would have been good.

Review by: Larry B. Gray on June 17, 2013 :  4 stars
Very interesting book but way to short. When read as a short story it is very well written and enjoyable.

Author Bio
I am a self -confessed Anglophile and while I'm in the confessing mood, I'll also admit that I devour Regency Romance novels.  Anyone who knows me knows that I am a no-nonsense, independent type with a barely discernible feminine side.  But I am a sucker for the understated romance, the English stiff upper lip and the snappy dialogue ala Jane Austen.  No overt sex, not bodice ripping, just a good story with great dialogue with an undercurrent of passion.  If there is a duke or duchess or even a commoner, a strong female heroine, an equally strong, but not overbearing male hero and the chance of some romantic entanglements, I'm all for it.  I like it so much; I decided to write a traditional regency romance novel myself...and enjoyed every minute of it.

I am happily married, have two grown daughters, two sons in law, three amazing grandsons and a Shih Tzu, named Camden.  I am thrilled to have checked off item number one on my bucket list and written a Regency novel.  Her Grace in Disgrace is my first, but I am hard at work at my second with is yet to be named.

A few reviews:

I truly enjoyed this book, beginning to end. Amazingly thought out story with great characters. I cannot say enough good things about this story. Give it a try if you love historical romance. You won't be disappointed. I know I wasn't. Mrs. Harbaugh has begun a new series, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.”

“I've been a Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen fan since I was very young, and frankly, very few Regency romances measure up to my requirements... but this one does. This book has an interesting beginning that hooks you in immediately, a cast of well-developed characters it is easy to care about, and a well-paced plot that is not always predictable. I look forward to seeing more books in the same series!”

“I kept thinking about these characters after reading this book. I didn't appreciate what the deceased husband had done until hours after finishing the book. (Not a spoiler - the book opens with the reading of his will.) I read romance novels the way I eat potato chips - fun snack but not a real meal. This book was different! Looking forward to reading the sequels.”

“This is a good story with believable characters that one can actually stay involved with through the entire book. What's astonishing is that this is Claudia Harbaugh's debut novel. Well done. I'm looking forward to more of the Widows of Woburn.”
