Featured Book - Cursing the Church or Helping It?

Cursing the Church or Helping It?:
Exposing the Spirit of Balaam
Anna M. Aquino

There is an epidemic going on in the Church today.  Many Christians hold on to offenses and maintain a “me first” attitude. In this last season, we must learn how to have compassion, truly love each other, and become one as the Body of Christ. Anna Aquino’s book seeks to open our eyes, soften our hearts, and move us to extend blessings to one another as we come together in unity. This book will help heal the hearts of people—both in the Church and in the world—who have been hurt by the spirit of Balaam. You will:
•    Learn that the spirit of Balaam brings division by causing Christians to criticize (curse) each other.
•    Understand how spiritual Amnons violate the Body.
•    Be challenged to examine your ways and humble your heart before God.
•    Be motivated to love your brothers and sisters in the Lord compassionately.
Anna Aquino writes, “We in the church need to wake up, have compassion, and start loving the hell out of each other. The spirit of Balaam is moving through the churches at a rapid pace.  It’s up to us as the Church to stop it.”

 A Couple Reviews:
5.0 out of 5 stars Cursing the Church or Helping it?, April 3, 2012
This review is from: Cursing the Church or Helping It?: Exposing the Spirit of Balaam (Paperback)
I am so grateful to Anna M. Aquino for writing this book. I am in agreement with her analogy of how much of the church, especially in the western world is operating today. Anna exposed the Spirit of Balaam for what it really is. Unfortunately, it is most certainly present, via all of its seductive, alluring, and coy ways of just pulling the Body down to its level. Anna, had me laughing, and then crying on my knees before the Lord in sincere repentance for any and all ways I have allowed this spirit to cause any division, gossip, or strife in and amongst my fellow believers. I recommend this book to all who want to live a life pleasing to our Lord. I believe the Lord will be using this book as yet another wake up call.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cursing the Church or hurting it? Exposing the Spirit of Balaam, March 27, 2012
This review is from: Cursing the Church or Helping It?: Exposing the Spirit of Balaam (Paperback)
I loved this book. It is one I will re-read and reference often. My own struggles within the church were validated as I read the pages. I found it encouraging knowing this is not just happening to me. I also appreciated the insight into the scriptures explaining what happens when strife is within the church and what needs to be done about it. The author did a wonderful job at combining practical, real life situations, along with scripture and interesting statistics that are happening today in the body of Christ. It is an easy read. You will find yourself laughing and "ouching" as the author shares experiences that make you self-reflect on your role of offense. This book sheds light on a real problem going on and "the how to" to fix it so we can stop being paralyzed by offense & hurt. Anna M Aquino does an excellent job explaining how the offended and the offender both lose and how by applying Gods Word to our situations we can break free of offenses allowing us to be who God created us to be. This book is a must have based on an everyday problem we all face. I recommend this book to everyone. If you find you are bringing home more hurts than blessings from your church; read this book and learn how to turn it around. If you know someone who has stopped going to church due to being offended and hurt by others; get this book into their hands and watch God Redeem His Church!

Featured Book - Seeking a Scribe by Marsha A. Moore

Seeking a Scribe:
Enchanted Bookstore Legend One
Marsha A. Moore

Lyra McCauley is a writer and loves fantasy novels, but until she opens a selection from bookstore owner Cullen Drake, she has no idea he’s a wizard character who lives a double life inside that volume…or the story’s magic will compel her from the edge of depression to adventure, danger, and love.

His gift to Lyra, the Book of Dragonspeir, was actually her copy, misplaced years ago. Lost in her pain following divorce and death, she fails to recognize him as her childhood playmate from the fantasyland. Friendship builds anew. Attraction sparks. But Lyra doubts whether a wizard is capable of love. She’s torn—should she protect her fragile heart or risk new love?

Opening the book’s cover, she confronts a quest: save Dragonspeir from destruction by the Black Dragon before he utilizes power of August’s red moon to expand his strength and overthrow the opposing Imperial Dragon. Lyra accepts the challenge, fearing Cullen will perish if evil wins. Along with magical animal guides, Cullen helps her through many perils, but ultimately Lyra must use her own power…and time is running out.

Reviewers’ Comments:

“Fantastic Characters! Well written with relatable personalities and love-able attitudes. The Plot flowed well, and the pace was good. I found the writing style great, with well written out world settings. I loved the originality of this story. Lyra is the only one to defeat the black dragon and the story really draws you in, making you feel as it it is you who must complete this. You've gotta read this!

My Rating 5 stars!” ~Melissa, WereVamps Romance Reviews

5 stars…this book sounded like a fantasy I always had. How incredible would it be to walk into a bookstore to get a book, but instead, the book comes to life for you? I love this. And I love it even more since it is packed with incredible and lovable characters to die for.

Lyra and Cullen have an instant connection in the book right from the first chapter. You can see they were made for each other.

And the animals, oh boy the animals. This book is full of great talking animals that you will love instantly. My favorite was Noba, the pseudodragon. He was so sweet and adorable and very helpful. Kenzo was a tiger owl that was small, but definitely had a bit of an Napoleon complex. There was a unicorn that was actually quite the badass (that is by far the strangest thing I have said) and many more that make a huge impact on Lyra in the book. I applaud Moore for coming up with this world. It was truly epic.

Moore created such a great world that it left an impact on me. I was sad when the book ended because I wanted more. I love all the mystery in this book and some may be unsolved, but it leaves a lot to be discovered for book 2, Heritage Avenged, which I am dying for. I loved the romance in the book. Definitely recommended for those who want an original and beautifully written epic fantasy.” ~Diana, Offbeat Vagabond Reviews

Featured Book - Write As Fast As You Think by Angie Dixon

Write As Fast As You Think:
Create Excellent Content (Of Any Kind) At the Speed of Mind
Angie Dixon

The most important thing you need to know about Write As Fast As You Think: “It’s simply not true that you cannot write fast and write well at the same time. The only thing holding you back is not knowing how.”

If you’re like a lot of writers, including myself for a long time, the biggest thing holding you back in your career is your ability to write quickly while writing well.

It’s so frustrating. The words are in your head, the ideas are clear, but you just can’t get them out as fast as you’d like. Or if you do get them out fast, they don’t come out right.
When I first started looking for solutions to this problem, the most common feedback I got was that it’s impossible to write fast while writing well.

I didn’t buy it. I know writers who put out tremendous amounts of good work, in short periods of time. Stephen King comes to mind, in the fiction department. In non-fiction, it’s hard to know who’s using a ghostwriter, but I know some of those authors are really that fast and that good.

In other areas, like content writing and academic writing, I know many people who write fast and produce great work.

It’s simply not true that you cannot write fast and write well at the same time. The only thing holding you back is not knowing how.

Write as Fast as You Think is the solution to that problem.
