Description:

"I'm off to make a fool of a fool, and a fool of a king as well.

Only a fool can fool a fool, but, with a kings wits, who can tell!
I'm off to make a fool of a fool, and a fool of a kingdom too.
I might lose my head by the kings-man's ax, but I'll try to fool him too!"
-The King of Fools

This anthology contains these short stories:

Foreword - Dahg Mahn's Riddle

IV - Crimzon and Clover

Don't mess with a girl and her dragon, at least not these two. A young dragon loses his mother to lair raiders and is left to fend for himself. A lucky girl happens upon him and together they form a lasting bond. When more men come to raid the lair the two are forced to defend themselves, and each other, in a wicked battle. Magic, swordplay, and dragon riding await in this satisfying short story.

III - Oathbreaker

This isn't your mom's faery tale. This pixie has an attitude. Oonzil Windlestraw, a pixie with temper problems befriends a human wizard and his eagle familiar. The trio are forced into fantastic dramatic action when a human fairy hunter nabs a fae girl with the intent of grinding her into pixie dust for profit. Danger, excitment, and some pixie-fighting, eagle-riding, fun await in this Faery Tale.

II - The First Dragoneer (a 43 page novella)

When two young men go on a hunt that they know will be the last hunt of their youth, they decide they want it to be an unforgettable outing. When they cross a ridge leaving the protection of their kingdom behind, they find a cavern that looks like it needs to be explored. In the cavern they find exactly what they were looking for. In this stoney hole lives something they will never forget!

I - The King of Fools

A Fool must save his kingdom in this 30 page, hilaric tale of majestic, motley mockery.

From the Author

The stories in this Anthology (all save for The King of Fools) are available as individual purchases. They all have several reviews on their individual "Kindle book" product pages. I have had them listed in the product description here, so that you can go see what people have said about them with ease.

Of all my short stories, The King of Fools
is my favorite. It can only be found in this anthology.  By itself it is nearly 30 book pages long, and quite the riot.  This anthology is about 150 book pages total.

If you are wondering why the stories are numbered backwards then you have to solve Dahg Mahn's riddle.  It can be found in the FREE preview.

  -- Enjoy, M. R. Mathias

If you can't wait to see if you are the winner you can purchase The King of Fools at Amazon in Kindle format or at Smashwords in various e-book formats.   You will find the links below.

  1. I just wanted to tell everyone that these are all stories I wrote while I was doing time in Texas. They are very nearly exactly as I wrote them. I had JC do the run of 15 because these will be gifts for my family at Christmas this year. Though this anthology will be sold as an eBook it will not be sold in print. The two give aways might very well end up being valuable collector's items someday. M. R.
